Anybody know what the pitch of the threads on whitney punch dies is? I seem to remember years ago a machinist friend telling me it has an oddball pitch.

I took one to work today, the 5jr is 7/16x20. I have one of the larger punches if you need that info, but I probably won't do that until Friday.

The #8, which uses the same sets as the # 7 or 7 1/2 (maybe both?) is 7/8 diameter, I'll get the threads in the morning.

I'm in the process of trying to make bottom dies for my #8, it is indeed 7/8" and 14 TPI.

It's also turned down to 3/4" below the threading so you can screw it up farther than where the threads end.

I was actually really surprised that I could mail order W1 drill rod in that diameter from mcmaster for almost as much as it would cost me to go pick up mild barstock from the highway robbers up the interstate...
