Forgive any inaccurate terminology...

I think it's the lorica segmenta? (the one with long horizontal steel bands which meet in the middle)... I'm guessing that it's made on either a solid leather vest or on a few internal leather strips on each side as the base...

Could someone enlighten me?

Also, the plans are in the plans section here.

The girdle plates are suspended on three leather strips on each side, the shoulder and collar plates on strips as well. This makes it flexible. Some of the segmentata out of India recently had them on solid pieces of leather, but you can't move that way.
