A squire brother of mine is looking to get an SCA legal version of this helm made in stainless. What do you think? Anyone interested in giving it a go? What kind of price range/time frame would we be looking at. To be honest, I don't know for sure just *when* he wants it, but I will find out soon.

I am developing a pattern for the coppergate which is very similar to the pioneer, just more pretty brass work on it. I hope to get a prototype of it made by mid January, but this would only be a dress lid, but might have a pattern that could be supplied and added to (Back plate added (solid or slats?) and then whatever choice of front plate.
You might want to talk to White Mountain since his saxon ridge helm.

And brittanic ridge helm.

are very close in appearance to the pioneer. I doubt you could get the boar to be legal, but all the rest seems very 'doable'.

Lol, Sasha... maybe I should put a mercedes benz hood ornament on my helm... It'd go with a verticle bar grill very nicely
I'd be worried about hitting that with a sword head on, though... that'd pinpoint the force, possibly enough to put a sizeable dent in the top... not to mention the wear&tear on the sword...

I believe he may want a bar cage in the back. He likes the heavy chain hanging off the back. maybe with a leather piece (kinda like wolfs) between the back bar cage and the heavy chains and he also wants the boar(I had questions about how well that would work) but I think that the crest is one of the main selling points of that helm for him
