Unto all archivers I crave your indulgence and insight. Some months ago I pinched a nerve in my neck, consequently I now have to have the weight if the helm resting on my shoulders.
My current rig is Brig, splinted arms and legs.
My persona is 15th Century (middle) Burgundian.(as you're guessed I'm SCA)
I was thinking of going with an italian bellows visor with an adaptation of the maximillian neck extension (the one with the segmented rear).
Your suggestions as to type and directions to patterns and possibly photo essays are greatly appreciated. (I have already had a look at the pattern archive and sinric's site)

Patri, you sound like a real candidate for a great bascinet -- after all, it works for that gentle out in Atenveldt. It's probably going to mean a custom order, though, as GB's aren't commonly found in the SCA. I gather one should not expect head mobility in this setup, though; about the only heads you are going to turn in it will be those of other people!
