Anybody have a good pattern for a leather elbow?

I've been searching for a decent leather elbow cop pattern on the net, but so far the ones I have found have been....well, lacking in aesthetics. One of them even looked like a flat bottom boat turned upside down. I have no idea how that one was supposed to work effectively.
I've made one myself, and the prototype looks pretty good in profile, but the dead on view looks a little flat. If it needs to be stitched or riveted, that's fine.
Thanks,
Cat

Try the rondel elbow pattern in the pattern section of the AA. I'll post some pics of my adaptation of it later today.

I will take a look through the pattern section again and see if i can find it. I looked once, but didn't find any with rondels.
This is what I came up with. Something about it is not quite right though so I was hoping to find something that ended up looking more like an elbow cop is supposed to.
Pics of your attempt would be great. Maybe they will give me some ideas on what i need to change on mine.
Thanks,

Here are some pics of what I did. they're very similar to what you did:

The next time I make these I think I'll make the cops a slight bit less deep, and a bit more pointed. Other than that, I like 'em.

They look okay to me, Cat.
Michael, do you find that your leather elbow provide adequate protection for SCA combat?
Thanks,

I honestly haven't worn them while fighting yet. That being said, I intend to give them a try. They're made from 12 oz leather and they're hardened with a 50/50 mix of beeswax and parraffin. I think they'll be fine with adequate padding. (I hope so, anyway!

Michael,
Thanks for posting those pics! I plan on covering my seams as well, but I was going to stitch the covers on. After seeing yours, I think I may like to use rivets like you did, if you don't mind. Is that ok?

Yeah, sure, go ahead- I don't have a monopoly on rivetting. (Although I wish I did. Can you imagine the royalties?) (BTW- I get why you asked. I just don't think you needed to. I ripped the basic pattern off myself, you know!

I appreciate the thought though.)
Audax-
I performed some tests via the very un-scientific method of putting the cops on and whacking myself in the elbow with rattan. The verdict: I'd wear 'em in combat. I don't think they'd take a sustained beating, but will withstand the occasional shot. I just need to make sure they're padded properly.
