Female Protection

Post by Ambrose »

My daughter is in need of a cup for boffer but I am not sure how to make one and the ones I have seen for softball that will fit her seem overpriced to me, being 3 times what a male's cost. Can anyone direct me in how one is made or what not? Thank you in advance.

A Bauer Pelvic Protector works great and under $10

Here is one, or you can search google and maybe find it cheaper.

A lady friend of mine who plays goalie swears by those. Ive seen some of the shots she takes in that area, and it makes me flinch (being a goalie myself). Dont know if that adds any to the topic or not

If someone in your local group has a good back issue library of TI issue 103 had an article on a womans fighters protective panty by Catriona Mairghread.
She fought with a fairly heavy duty unit, and makes her living as a pattern, and prototype designer in the fashion industry. I've had several women swear by the pattern and instructions she wrote up.

I fought in the TI type protection for a couple of years before I discovered the Bauer. Is your daughter really little where you would want to custom make something? If you decide to go with the TI style, I would suggest modifying the pattern a little. She describes what is basically a leather hourglass (think panty liner type shape) pointed to a pair of bike shorts. Modify the pattern so it has more coverage in the front of the body and less between the legs. More of a triangle. Someone has posted the sword maiden site and it describes a pattern process. You are trying to cover the pubic bone and protect the organs in the lower abdomen, so the panty liner shape really is not essential, and the leather between the legs totally sucks.

If you are making something, keep in mind that WASHABLE is important.

Hey Jess,

I've been doing the Maxi Pad thing a little to long, too!

I might have to give this Bauer a try.
