I'm working on a sallet based losely on the one appearing in the upper left hand page 98 of AAMK. For anyone without the book or too lazy to go out to the shop(where real men keep their bookshelf ) and get it, it looks something like this:

My question is whether there are any extant examples of that style with a single lame articulated tail?

I found this example:

but that appears to originally have been fitted with a bellows face visor and the skull shape(specifically the rear) has a different shape.


I guess what I'm trying to ask is whether there are actual examples of what I'm trying to do, and if not, if it would be reasonable to assume that there could have been northern italian sallets with a laminated tail.

Probably I'm completely wrong, but the first example is french style to my eyes.

after a closer look, although I dont know if its french or not, its not they style I wanted a picture of. Doesnt have the sweeping ridge going down the back of the skull that mine does. This is a better picture:
