I find this barbute intimidating in aspect, yet elegant in form. It's on display at the Met. When I saw this it was love at first sight. Someday I will make this helm.

Just to let everyone know, this helmet no longer resides at the Real Armeria. the Armeria no longer exits. I went there about three weeks ago and it has been stripped out and everything has been sent to Toledo to be housed in the Alcazar. It is now to be a military museum. Of course it was alos closed for renevation. Disappointment, but while in Madrid, you can't miss the Real Palace, armeria. Take a drool bib.
The first level is full of Carlos V 's armour on one side and Fillipe II and a few others on the other wall. the next level is a lot of childrens armour and minor rulers's stuff. they even have a display of armour dented by early shot from gonnes. The shots must have hurt, but they didn't penetrate the armour.
then when you go to Sevilla, you have to go to Fellipe II's palace. Okay I will shut up about it and work on getting the pics reformatted so I can get them on the internet. Thery are all showing 800kb to 1.4 mb in size so I have to reduce them to get them own.

Leave the SCA better than you found it. Fight alot of cool people along the way.

Bronze scale armour helmets! Very ancient. Known as "Girpisu" to the Mitanni.

Greetings,

This is my helmet. I love it so much, it keeps my skull from being crushed.

I don't know what I'd do without it.

It is a great example of an ugly but period helm. I actually am fond of the Coburg bascinet.

Karl, what is the provenance of that helm, it seems like a poor 19th century fake to me.

The tri-comb burgs are thought to be symbols of maximillian's personal guard.

And my SCA version of that helm is being made by Patrick Thaden.
