Wood Pallet Equipment

Post by Juan Santell »

I've been looking for a way to store my hammers easily for the longest time and as I'm scrolling through the message board, I come upon a hammer rack made from a pallet! Easy to make, elegant and free. I've also heard mention of a work bench made of pallets. Does anyone have a pic of this? And more importantly, is there anything else that someone has made from this technological wonder? When I first put my pool up I didn't have the money for a deck so I built a 5 foot square mini-deck with railings from skids, total cost 4 dollars (and a couple of days taking skids apart).

I made the first (I think) skid hammer rack. Ben got the idea from me. I also am the proud owner of the workbench made from mahogany skids. I've got pics and I'll post em if someone will put em up on their armourarchive@home site or somewhere elce.

If nobody does just e-mail me and I'll send em to ya.

You can make a skid bench (we call em skids here) by stacking up a bunch of skids till they're the height you want and then adding the boards from some of the ones you busted up to fill out the top.

Love the shop Mad Matt. Good use of resorces. I am inspired to search our anything that could resemble a tool or be used as such.

Isn't it funny how armourers workshops usually just look like someone took a bunch of garbage and stuffed it into a room? Ok so there is a lot of actual garbage and scrap metal strewn about my shop in the pics but the tools kinda blend with it pretty well.

And we're proud of our scrapheaps and eager to see everyone elce's junk pile.

I can just imagine someone who hasn't seen armour be made before or seen an armourers workshop seeing the pics of my shop and then seeing pics of some of my nicer work and having them say "So where did you REALLY make the armour."

You can make...FIRE!

At least that's what I did with a couple of them on Saturday evening, when it was -3 in my shop (I think that's like -20 Canadian). My first real test of the new wood stove went ok, but I think I'm going to have to insulate the shop too. Whenever the fire died down for more than a few minutes I started to see my breath again.

Matt, you gotta make or scrounge yourself a woodburning heater, makes a huge difference.

Oh I can scrounge a free woodstove no problem. The problem is that you need to have a permit to put one in. Around here they're really sticky about dooin stuff without a permit.

-3 is almost -20

This morning it was -37 which is -34.6 farenheight.
