beautifull work.

How much effect does the nuckle rider make on the fit and function of the guantlets?
I guess I've just asumed since there wasn't a visible one like on hourglass gauntlets that they wheren't needed or used in gothic armour, it never downed on me that they might be there but not visible like in yours.

Thanks for the insperation

Thanks,

well I have seen it on some gauntlets to have it there, and some gauntlets that have the main knuckle part missing do not have any holes in the lame behind it to hold the leather with the fingers on it so either they are attached direct to the main knuckle or have this small hiden lame inside. Its also esier to do repairs to the fingers, just drill two small rivets away and you have all four fingers out and the work is easier on them, same with the fitting.

It seems you specialize in these wonderful German-gothic gauntlets.

And it shows... they are magnificent!

Well I have started to play around with armour back in summer 2002.
The first pieces were real ugly looking things, but even now im still learning new stuff. Lot more stuff to learn, I have never made a helmet from one piece. Have to go and see Jiri Klepac in his workshop to get some inspiration.
As he is one of the best armourer in CZ.
