Sabatons by M. Yancy in Pattern Archive

Post by The Big PoD »

Anyone made a set of these? Besides Mike Yancy, you smart asses Image I'm looking to find out how big a foot these babies cover so I can add or subtract accordingly. I wear a size 13 shoe, FWIW.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to, when adding a person's pattern in the pattern archive, list their email address (along with their website link) and Archive alias (when a mundane name is used) so you know who exactly to come to with questions and not hog up precious bandwidth Image

Never tried those particular patterns, but here's what I do when I try other guys' patterns for anything. I make a mock-up. Lets me see if the pieces are in scale with each-other and if they will fit me.

Possibly the best thing to use is that heavy aluminum foil that you get in the form of disposable roasting pans at the supermarket. Cut out the shapes with a pair of Chinese scissors or light duty snips. Bend and "dish" with your bare hands until they are in the final shape, articulate with brass paper-fasteners and masking tape for leather.

Or just use poster board. Then, when the mock-up fits you, use it for the pattern.

Hope I helped.

download em, make a cardboard mock-up. if they are to small take the patterns to a photo copier and increase the size a few % and try again

I made a mock up of the pattern and it appears that they will fit a 10-11.5 shoe as is. I want to make them for my size 13 steel toe boots, and the patterns are about a half inch too short on each side. I'm thinking about playing with them in the copy machine at work on Monday to get a good idea on how to make them work.
