Jiri,

Now that is very nice! Good job. I think it turned out very nice. With all the changes uyou had to make learning the ins and outs of the Great bascinets you have done very well.

Stu,

What more can I say. Lucky guy!

Jiri Klepac wrote:Lorenzo, I have really similar setup + lower part is operated by means of lever and couterweight. It grabs the piece so you can do anything else while the piece is heated. I have several pieces as exchangable lower parts for helmets greaves ect. It works fine for me although AO rig is probably quicker.

Jiri

Not to hijack the thread but...is it possible to seem more pics of the t-Rex setup.? I have the identical burner but have not set it up yet.

Stu, that hat is so sweet you'll get a toothache when you wear it  Heres a pic of my Innsbruck Sallet Jiri just sent me. This will be a copy of one possibly owned by Gaudenz, Vogt von Matsch. By Jorg Wagner circa 1480-90

Hi Doug,

There was a topic about it recently, probably lost in the data-fire.. So make a new topic, I will willingly post there or e.mail me for photos.

Otto, thank you for the description of the sallet, I bet hardly one could see it in the picture now:-)

Randall, thank you for the support.

all the best

Sallet

Post by armourboy »

Hi Otto

Hee hee, yes the GB is most certainly lookin good!

Jiri has made a great start on your sallet, wow! look at the thickness of the steel blank, that must be hard to work.

Do you have a pic of the original sallet you would be able to attach please? I'm really interested to see what the extant helm looks like.

Many thanks in anticipation.

No problem Otto, it is fun to make theese. The blank is not so thick. It looks from the edge, but is it a bit deformed from the forging. The original thickness was 2,5 mm. In mild nice to move.

Enrico, I have seen your hat´s pictures. it is in stainless, right? Very nice in my opinion! Since seeing this I was looking forward to try my own. I hope my copy won´t be pissing on the old Master´s graves...

I'm sure the old masters would smile and give you a pat on the back. The ghost of Wagner is probably peeking ovvver your shoulder as I type this saying," Ya, Das ist sehr gut!"
