Lamellar Kit?
I'm planning on making a lamellar breastplate and was wondering what els would go well with it (leg armour, arms, helm, ect)? I would also like to see pics of people who wear lamellar armour in the SCA so that I could get an idea of what kind of kit I want.

I have gamboised cuises with integral plates and pointed plastic Knees (yuk but they dont tear up pants like leather or steel...I have tried), under the pants.
under the tunic, I wear a fairly light quilted gambeson. Its shorter than the tunic and sleevless so you cant see it.

Sarnac, is that the aluminum plates with the powdercoat on them? I can remember you saying you were planning on doing it. Looks pretty good, closeup pics would be appreciated!
*edit* This is my old lamellar kit

Grendal, the right answer to this question is another question - what period and region are you planning to represent? I can give you lots of references on what to wear with a lamellar breastplate if you're doing 10th-12th century Byzantine here and here, and a few for early 12th century Italo-Norman, of which two are here. Other than that, if you want to represent one of the steppe races, I'd say look at the Red Kaganate site (just follow the links under "Games and Military Arts" for info.

They are the aluminum plate order that was done here on the archive, and then I had them powder coated black so they didnt look so obviously aluminum. they have held up very well.

I also got in on the aluminum lamellae order, almost 2 years ago.
For a while, I had tassets made of lamellar hanging over my thighs and butt. They worked, but have a tendancy to get ripped apart or ripped off. I've removed them, and just take the bruises as a matter of course. Motivation to defend better.
The torso is holding up very well. The lamellae have become dished in some places, but that's just character.

Thats the website for Massa G. He is one of our own, and good people to boot. I have 700 lamellar plates on order with him now.
