Anyone ever painted a bargrill flesh color?

I'm finishing up a helm and really dont want to ruin the look with the bargrill. I planned on using some black enamel paint on it, but was looking through what I have and found a flesh color I had used on some models. I thought about using it but just wanted to see if anyone else had tried it and what the ascetic results were?

Well a bargrill is what it is....not period for all but late period tourney helms and a possible freak bargrill depiction in the 14th century....that is still debatable.
The flesh look will only work if viewed straight on... a side shot will make it look odd.
I suggest flat black as its easily lost and doesnt catch the sun (meaning it wont be reflected in the sun, but the sunlight wont bounce in your eyes as much either).
Also wear a coif or mail up over the lower part of the bargrill as this make the piece look much more period.

I have, it doesn't really do what you think it does. kinda looks like a pink strainer. Unless your black which might look allright. I put chainmail over mine and it made it look sexy.

I know Yama Kaminari sometimes does their grills in flesh tones.

Not what I'd choose, but see for yourself. I prefer wrapping my grill in matte black hockey tape.

yehw. From across the field that might look vaguely facelike but it looks like it draws attention to the grill instead of diverting it.

IIRC I've seen reference to that colour set up being used on a kabuto as "bamboo" rather than "flesh". I know bamboo wasn't used for Japanese armour, no matter what the Victorians wouls have us believe, but thats what I think I heard said.

Actually, it's a gold-colored paint.

Actually I believe the handful of various bargrill like things on helms are mostly 15th century. Sometimes on bascinets of an older vintage though.

I wish I could cover it up with maille, but its a roman ridge style helm. Will probably just paint it black. I tried painting a portion of it, but its glaringly obvious, while the rusty blackened color of the rest of it just disappears against the stainless and brass.

Drap a toga from it.

The toga is civilian wear.
And only Roman citizens are allowed to wear it.
