Review of conical helm from White Mountain Armory

Editors: If you want to use this, feel free...if not, that won't bother me, either.
This regards the helm sent to Matt Broadway for review...I had it in my custody for a while, because it was shipped to me; Matt's address was in flux at the time. I took a very thorough look at the helm, of course, but I didn't post a review, because Matt was supposed to. Well, Matt may still do that, but he hasn't been around, so here goes...
Appearance and finish:
The helm in question is a Norman conical with nasal. It's authentic in style [no skirt and grille] so you can't fight SCA in it, but it would be a relatively easy armoring job to add those parts if you wanted to use it as a basis for a fighting helm. It looks exactly as pictured on the WMA site, and to my eye is a very close match to the helm pictured in AAMK. It came with a very nice polish, enough so that some people would assume it was stainless at first glance. The inside surface is painted.
Construction and quality:
Made of three pieces of 14ga steel [two halves, and the nasal]. Welded center seam, and the nasal is riveted on. The weld is very nicely migged. I found one tiny pit where the seam was ground down on the outside. The rivets were peened down very well. Completely tight, with no sharp edges.
Overall:
Very nice, in fact nearly flawless work. If I were purchasing armor, WMA would be one of the very first places I would check.

A position worth taking, is worth defending.
