A question on floating cops(like Mad Matt's)

Your arms and legs with the floating cops, how do you stop the rest from over rotating?
i'm trying to do something along the same lines but either the cop gets really flopy, or the top and bottom gap in a big bad way.
i'm trying to do it with some soupcan stile cops if that changes anything.

The demi-greave and cuisse or vam and rear brace need to almost touch in the middle under the cop. Leave just enough space to rivit the leather straps in.
I think there's a pic of the inside on my site.
Gapping isn't gonna kill ya.
It's important to fasten the cop to the leg in a way that it does not move around. Like a behind the knee strap. Strapping the cuisse and demi-greave just above and below the cop are good ideas too.
Of course the other way to do things is to simply point the seperate pieces to the gambeson. So they don't actually connect at all. This is also an historically accurate method.

Thanks a lot mat, that answered my question.
basicly i'm just wanting to add a oversized lame, else and undersized demi cuise just to cover the gap between my knee cop and my cuise and figured this would work for it.
