Lets Talk Arming Points

Post by Vermillion »

Lets talk arming points.

Here is a picture of a 15th Century Arming Doublet, with points, from Historic Enterprises' website.

Notice the placement of the points.

Now the ones at the neck are obviously the mounting position for the Pauldrons. And the ones at the hips are for the from and side of the Cuisses.

What are the ones around the bicep for ?

The rest I assume are just to close the garment.

I thought there was typically a strap around the inner part of the bicep for that?

Also, how is the arming point mated to the garmet such that it does not pull the fabric apart? Does it run thru a patch of leather?

layered fabric, for one, and most importantly, armour that isn't made as heavy as most of the sca armour is.

the points around the bicep make the arm fit really well, keeps it from sliding down and digging into your inner elbow.
