Buckler and edging.
I have 1/2 inch thick plywood turn into a buckler. The method I use for edging my heater is to forcibly bend the aluminum box channel to match the heater edge. I do not think I can do this in such a small radius. Given this how does one edge a buckler?
Thanks
Dietrich

If it is a half an inch thick I would suggest routing the edge front and backside. Much like an Atzinger shield. Make the edge round and it should reduce the likelyhood of damaging rattan.
Revenge is a matter of style.

hot glue a length of hemp 3/8" dia. rope around the edge. Then wrap wet rawhide over it, stretch, and lace on. When the rawhide drys it will tighten down and the rope will give a nice "buffer" edge around the shield.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

You don't need to put metal under it? My shield is done like you say but with metal channeling between the wood and rope.

Thanks again!

go to Petco and buy the economy 5 pack of LARGE bleached rawhide bones.
Soak them in warm water for about an hour.
Untie, discard little inside bits, and stretch out the long outside rolled strip.
Cut into 2-3" wide strips.
That is what I did, I simply overlaped the end of one strip with the beginning of the new one when sewing them on the shield. Worked great.
