Closing Cheek Helm Padding and Chinstrap
Those of you out there with closing cheek helms for SCA combat, how are you padding and chin strapping them? Pics would be appreciated.

I have a closing cheek plate helm from Sir Brand also. My cheek plates have 3 layers of 1/2" foam and shut tight but not too tight against my cheeks. It does not require a chinstrap.
One of my squire brothers has one and he extended the bottom of the cheek pads to go under his chin. He wore it this way at this past Estrella war and had no problems at all.
I hope this helps.

my chinstrap looks something like this (the white space is a slit cut out). drill holes at about your ears (preferably not while wearing the helm) and these should match up with the holes a the ends of your chin strap. If measured correct you should be able to put the helm on, flip down te chin strap, and one piece around the slit should sit under you chin and the other piece resting under your bottom lip.
If you want to get fancy you can make it out of 3 pieces of leather, and have buckles where the red lines are. These buckles can be a good idea becuase the leather will stretch over time, and you will lose the snugness of your chinstrap

How'd it go? Got pics?
I am getting my "Brand" new helm back from getting dipped in Tin next week. They called and said it was done and it was being shipped to me, so I am curious to see what you did. Thanks!!
