Finally got pics of my new helm on the internet. I built it based on what I've seen from Hal's Helmet kits (thanks Hal for the inspiration) took about 2 days to construct. Its made of 14guage mild steel and has rivits about every 1 3/4. Its already taken a beating in the SCA and held up nicely. So here are some pics.

nice job.
Questions: what is with the skulls on the shields in your pics?
And what is with the flaming helmet guy?

I really don't know why he has skulls on his shield? And as to the flames on the helm....If you thought that was bad you should see his pants.....

Just one part of the SCA I hate...I don't mind period looking gear or even ugly gear for beginners but the guy with the flames is a squire.

It came out rather well.

Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for all the kind words (especially about my kit).
I've put a few hundred hours into research and construction to keep as close to time period as possible (about 1250) I plan on adding greaves sometime soon.
Jean Paul de Sens, I was actually only out at Medfaire Friday. I spent Saturday and Sunday recuperating from the blow Lord Aethelstan gave me to my unprotected shoulder. But was a shame not to meet you.
