English Armour c. 1430
I found this on Flikr by a fellow whose handle is Artem Portnoy. It's me at a little event in Brooklyn with my infamous mismatched gauntlets and showing a lot of linen crossing blades with someone in lamellar. My voiders hadn't arrived yet. You can tell I hadn't fought in three years or my leading leg wouldn't be in quite that position. Pic still doesn't look too bad, though.

You could be the "before" picture in an advertising campaign to sell mail skirts.
That's a very handsome helmet!

I guess that's going to happen to me to.
How does this style of fauld lay when in the saddle? Same issue or does it hang correctly?

Smaller aperture equals greater depth of focus/field. In other words, it effectively does improve one's vision.

I think I'm going for the mail briefs - better for ground combat. Thanks for the compliment on the helm!
Chef, the soup strainer (which is, of course, based on that weirder-than-hell armet in Berlin, for those who didn't recognize it out of context) is not quite as good as a three weapons mask, but it's close. My usual strategy is to wear my spectacles underneath it and keep the visor down as much as possible to hide them - or whip them off quick if I have to raise it.
Boy, does wearing linen make a difference, or what? I was MUCH cooler inside the ol' tin than usual.
