Another helmet I made from 14 GA steel. The visor is raised from one piece and the reinforce is heat blued. The helmet is welded. For more authenticity, I decided to do not align the holes for the linings and the holes in the visor.
This helmet is loosely based on monuments.

Fun! The nasal bar dividing the sights is rather unusual, isn't it?

It looks good. Good job. Can always take some more 1st half of the 14th century helmets. Its a good time period that is fun but unlike the late 14th or 15th fewer actualy armour remains which might be why so many chose later time periods to reenact. Nice work.

Awesome.... I've been wanting to make one myself but haven't had anytime to. Gotta say I love the face plate on it. Did you fabricate the top or was it prefab?

I made all the helmet myself. I never use prefab items or spun top or anything like that. I want to hammer all the plates in my pieces.
For the nasal bar, I dont think that it is unusual. The helmet on the monument I took to inspire me had this feature. It is like the nasal bar on the great helm from the 13th century.

Alot of reproduction sugarloafs look the same this however really gives
the sugarloaf a breath of fresh air, never seen one done quite like this
looks very nice. I would like to see the monuments you based this off of
could you post picks or give us links?

I based this helmet on this monument. It is in Italy I think.
I extrapolated a lot of things like the top of the helmet. At the beginning, I wanted to do a bascinet with, but I decided to do a sugarloaf.

do you know the date of that monument? I have seen it before but cannot remember a date to it.
Thanks,

I think it is 1320 or 1340. But, I'm not sure. For sure, it is in the first half of the 14th century.
