Dragonscale-weave maille: expansion/contraction?

How would one go about making a dragonscale coif or pouch? (I.e., a concentric pattern.) Is such a thing possible?

not shure if it has been done but I know that It can be done.
we had someone a few years ago make a haulburk out of dragonscale
