recently i purchased a breastplate + backplate, they fit nicely but the problem is the back plate was bent during shipping, and does not line up with the armpits of the breastplate no more. it is almost a total of 1.3 iches bigger.

I tried bending into place but its stainless steel so it rlly does nothing to bend it by hand.

what is the best way to get these two together?

do i have to put it over a stake to form it into shape?

i really have no idea.


and the Breastplate is shaped like U as the backplate is shaped like V, if you know what i mean.

Do you mean to say that the backplate is now WIDER then the breastplate?

Either way you will have to un-dent the denting. That might be easy or might be near impossible without reshaping from scratch. In the past I have made minor correction to breast and back-plates by clamping one end in a vice and leaning onto the other. I have squeezed helmets with a pair of 2x4's and a chain to make a giant nut-cracker. I have tried to curve metal shields with ratchet straps. Any or all of these techniques might be adaptable to your problem and will not require (extensive) planishing and surface work but might require some touch up.
