How many man (or woman) hours does it take to put together lamellar armor?

Assuming plated pre punched drilled etc..

The actual lacing of the armor?

Greetings,

Mine took, from start to finish, about 100 hours.

I took it apart a lot and it was spread out between nine months.

A week or so, lacing 2-4 hours a night. It goes faster if you lace @10 plates together at a time, then lace the tens together in rows, then lace each row together. I had to spend time fiddling with the shoulders.

Make sure you have enough lace to begin with or you'll waste time waiting to get more. Use a large guage needle to pull the lace through or if using paracord, melt the ends to make needle like tips. Also pull the inner strands out. It'll be tighter that way.

+1: Tight is good.

IF you stop to tie off every lacing into a knot, it'll take about a quarter again longer, but give a more secure weave.

To make my vest it took me a weekend. I laid on my floor, watched Waynes World 1 & 2, and maybe one of the Rush Hour movies, and then I was finished.

If there all cut out and no filing to do and depending on what size tiles I can lace an average sized vest down to the hips in 4-5 hours..
But thats only lacing about 5 of them.

I cant tell you exactly how long it took, but it couldn't have been more than a week total. I made a few mistakes that ment having to take a couple rows apart, and I have leather strips on each row. Id say I spent the most time fitting and adjusting. The lacing doesn't really take long, and like others said its something you can do while watching tv.
