I've been working on it off and on at work during my lunch break and finally got it put together and smuggled out of the shop. Though, truth be told, I had a hard time getting all the stuff into the shop than back out.

I still don't have the upper hammer yet, wont be dont at the machine shop until monday. I went ahead and ordered one from the site Halberds suggested in another thread as a just incase, and the one I have on it now is just a flat push chisel.

God does it work wonders though! I didnt have any sheet metal laying around to test on it, so I grabbed a piece of 1/16 x 1 x about a foot or so piece of stock and stuck it in there and first try managed to put a nice smooth 90 degree curve by hammering on one side. The next test was a piece of corrugated tin, and with it cranked down, I could easily put a smooth dome on it.

Its very sturdy, there is no vibration in the C with constant or off and on use. The bolts holding the slider for the bottom anvil keep it in place well, same with the top. I took a flap disk to the bottom anvil post and trimmed it up a bit, so I can adjust the position of the lower anvil by tightening one bolt over the other.

Heh, if I turn the power all the way down and lower the bottom anvil a bit, its a planisher. I wasn't planning to use it as an air hammer, but at full power it easily should work as one.

I have seen a dishing machine like that.
It had a ball welded to the shank and a delrin dish underneath.
The air hammer was a large industrial job, sort of like yours.

Now it dished the crap out of 14ga.
One had to move the piece very fast as it smashed it in quite a bit.
