New guy armor ??? Try to look nice or just get on the field?

Really ugly armour?

Is also often poorly made and uncomfortable. Make sure what you have on fits and is safe.

Don't compromise that to "just get on the field".


Armour usually has the lines it has in part because it works better that way. emulate historical and ergonomic lines no matter what you buld it out of it will just work better.

My two cents on the helm issue are to check CAS Iberia's combat helm. It's legal out of the box after you pad it to fit and attach a chin strap for about $150-200 range.

You've mentioned that you want to be an archer, which a kettle helm would work well for. The one thing about using a CAS helm is that if you change persona's you could use the same helm (once your armour is "legal", the rest is "looks") or use it as part of an extra loaner kit down the road.

When I started fighting in the loaner gear; I was told that it might not fit me perfectly, but its legal - plus it makes you want to get your kit together.

One option is to fight in a gamby and kettle hat as a lower-class persona and as your kit comes together, you can "move-up" in the world
