Engraving and Etching

[Anilid]

Hello guys,

I'm almost done with my fingered gauntlets and it's turning nicely. I was wondering, while staring at them, if some engraving geometry would be good. But I really have no clue of how it's made, what tools are used. Now, I guess, if you do that on a high polished piece of armor (mild steel), you wont see anything and your armor will only look "damaged". There comes the etching part, to add some contrast to your engraving. And I dont know how to do that neither.

do you guys have any word of wisdom about that?
