Question about my new hammer

I just got a peddinghaus raising hammer shipped from Centaur Forge, thats been on back order for about two months.

The first thing I noticed is that the larger face is slightly askew. I can't really tell if the whole face is off, or if its just the cut around the edges. I haven't used it yet, probably wont for a bit, just wanted to know if this was normal or would interfere with its use before I waited too long to get a replacement.

a picture would help depending on how its askew it may be a feature of that style hammer or posibly just the way the light is reflecting off the hammer face. penddinghaus is known for there quality tools if its a flawed tool I would be suprized it actualy made it out the door
I would expect them to repair or replace if its a bad hammer
but some hammers have an off set face to help work in tigh places.

I ordered a raising hammer that ended up back ordered too. I ordered it before Christmas and I am still waiting for it. I will let you know when it arrives if I have a similar problem.

Arcane, did you get any kind of notification from them about the back order? They let me know about the back order, and I said I would like the hammer shipped when available if I could get some kind of notification just to make sure I had the cash available. A couple of weeks ago I check the bank account and surprise! I've overdrawn by $2 and stuck with a nice overdraft fee. So be warned, when its available they will take the money out without notification.

Other than that though, I would recommend them as a good place to do business.

I did receive a notification of back order but nothing since then, that was months ago. I am going to have to get on the phone and do some harrassing. I haven't been stressing about it too much because my shop has just moved and is still in the process of being reassembled, but I want my hammer dammit.

Hi there, I got a small raising hammer from peddinghause but wanted a larger one. How heavy is the raising hammers you guys are talking about? I recently got one from Ironmonger within about 2 weeks made to any size I needed, Im ordering more in different sizes now. Heres a pic of the raising hammer so you can compare it to Peds.

Take care

I ordered mine in about mid december, about the same as you. The hammer arrived about a week and a half ago. If you don't hear anything from them soon, I'd contact them. I'd think you should have gotten yours out of the same batch I got mine as they were ordered at the same time.

The one I got is 300g. It looks to be about half the size of yours.
