Fumes and dust collection system help?

Well the next step in building a decent shop is taking care of the dust and eventually of welding fumes. Since the shop is too small to realy seperate the workstations I will have to put a fan and some kind of enclosure where I will do the grinding, buffing, welding etc...

Any pointers from people who have already done this?

Thanks

Hi pat.

Look on mks site he built a dust exhaust system from scratch. Check out his "I caught it on fire episode"

He has a 7 horse power buffer and I guess it really develops some friction.

I do not have his web page # but he is the guy that makes the titanium sport armour.

A simple system could be made from a shop vac, an appropriate hose, and a manufactured hood. This could also be moved around in the shop.

Thanks Hal and Al.

My Dad has a big ass fan motor and a hood that he had in his garage when he use to do some O/A welding. I'll go take a look tomorrow and take it from there.

rats lost my long post so this is a shorty.

hi ther here is alink to the collector fire gallery:
http://tiarmour.com/gallery%20dust_collector_fire.htm

and the progression of my dust collection system.
sadly I am traveling so my latest addition is not on my website yet. I made myself a supplied air system so I no longer wear a cannister mask... instead... get fresh clean air from outside(front of my shop) it flows though a duct system into a positive pressured helmet. never breathed so freely before while polishing. a huge advance and boost in my productive capability.

I really advocate good breathing and eye protection. here are some pics. if I can answer any questions please feel free to ask away.

Thanks mrks, I'll email you with questions as problems arise. I would love to see your new setup. Meanwhile here is the big-ass fan I got from Dad.
