Yea, I have seen that thread. Infact, that's where I got the inspiration to try this. Also, all Goll's photos are copied.

Here's couple more potatoes. My dslr battery was empty.

I've got the brow reinforcement plate roughed and bolted on. There is some cracking in the sharp corners. I should have left the areas more curved but there's some extra material though so I can cut the cracks out.

Next, I'll make a pattern for the neck extension and trim the brow plate. Then I probably should start patterning the main piece of the bevor before visor? Or everything at the same time?

I have now welded the neck extension piece on and somewhat shaped it. I might have to adjust the length later but now it's good. I could have done the bowl in two pieces but I had these halves left from an another unfinished project. So why not use them?

I have also reshaped the brow plate to get rid of the cracks.

Next I'll start to patterning and shaping the main plate of the bevor. The piece that is pivoted in the skull. Next week is fully dedicated to armouring because I have little vacation from my money paying job. I should get some major progress done.

I should also mention that the skull is 2mm mild steel and the brow is 1,5mm. I plan to use 2mm plate with the rest of the pieces.

Here's some more progress.

I have managed to make the bevor. It is a three piece construction. Lames need some attention though. Some shape corrections and pivot points need some moving. I have also started to shape the visor.

Here's where I'm currently at.

Visor is somewhat fitted but I'm not fully satisfied how it currently sits with the upmost bevor plate. So, some tweaking is still needed.
Back of the skull need also some further attention. I think it is slightly too long. I need to cut and shape it to get it right.

A few things worthy of note:
#1 - The bottom lames on the bevor undoubtedly would have originally been on 3 leathers.
#2 - The brow reenforce is currently loose and pivots up and down (see photos of the guy trying it on).
This makes the height of the ocular appear different in different photos.
#3 - In some photos the visor is not fully closed this can further complicate the issue of ocular height.

Tom, there's couple of great photos in your album that I hadn't seen before. Especially the pic that shows the helmet from up and behind. I think the last pic shows everything almost fully closed. Visor might be just tad open.

Is there or should there be some sort of mechanism that holds the brow reenforcement plate down? Or is it just friction between skull?
Should the tail also have three leathers or is the current method original?

Well here goes again.
I suspect that the brow reenforce was riveted down originally.
I think I can see a now empty hole in the reenforce in this photo (second image is zoomed in):

The tail seems to be configured correctly now.
Look at this photo:

Looks at the rivets on the left side (right side of photo) of the lames on the bevor.
Note the extra rivet at the bottom near the decorative border, this is the give away that there was leather articulation.
Also note that there is not one present in the bottom sallet tail lame.

During construction the bevor lames would have been connected directly to each other much like they are now.
Holes at the top of each lame would be used attach to them to the bottom of their underlapping lame.
For final assembly the leather would have been attached to the holes at the bottom of the lames.
The unused holes at the top of the lames would have been filled with a purely decorative rivet.

Thanks Tom, everything makes sense.

I think I'm gonna hold the re-enforcement plate down with a hidden spring pin or just play with the springiness of the metal and hold the piece down with a round rivet head (hole slids on top of it). Makes it easier to replace lining strips if the piece is not riveted down.
