Barbute is now done!

Visor hinge rivets are 5mm steel rivets capped with 1mm brass. There's also leather suspension system and 4 point chin strap.

I'm happy how this turned out.

Thanks guys!

I'm back in the shop now, every sunday for 2-3 hours. Next helmet will be a Roman cavalry helmet for sca fighting. I have started making it and I have couple of bands ready.
Need to replace a handle of my Halberds dishing hammer. It gave up after many years of hammering.

Super nice work Tomi, I love the bar grill. Did you draw it out first? or just start bending stuff?

Have a good week

Thanks everybody!

Andy, the grill frame was somewhat planned but the rest was freestyle. I first bent a mock up out of a thinner wire and when I was happy, I bent the round bar and welded it on.

It is time for a new project!

This time it is not a commission but just for the pleasure of smacking steel and a bit of a challenge to myself. I'll try to do something in the line of this particular helmet:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... ._1495.jpg

I will try to include at least some of the fine file work, engraving and gold leaf.

I have started with the top halves. I will need to make an extension piece to the back. I'll take better pics once I have more to show.
