Face Picture in a Helmet - Sallet with Bevor

Post by Oskar der Drachen »

Hi all,

Does anyone have a good picture of someone wearing a well-fitted German Sallet with bevor, visor down, full face?

Front and side shots if possible, and it doesn't have to be a solid bevor, it could be a bar-grille one.

What I'd like to see is how a face fits into a helment like this, and what can be seen of the face and eyes from outside the helmet. I would give me a better idea of what I'm looking for to either buy, or attempt to build.

I'd like to see a range of pictures showing a good example of the kind of clearances and fit there are. I've never had a chance to be inside a helmet like this, and don't have a feel for it.

What's the chance of seeing a Face inside some of the beautiful helmets that are around?

Pleeeease?

I think that sallet and bevor, both part of the same harness, harness made for the "knight" usually completely cover the face. It was not wise to ride full speed against spears and lances with an exposed face.
For other "composition" of sallets and bevors, it may be very possible to see part of the face, or even the entire face, but all you take to have a full cover is to raise your bevor and pull down your sallet or his visor (if a pivoting one is fitted).
