The making of a dummy.

Post by Steve S. »

So I decided to make a body double of myself to use as an aid for patterning out a new coat of plates. I put on a t-shirt, and then had my wife cover me with duct tape. I stuck this onto an old manequin form I had, and then went to Publix and got all their recycled plastic bags (with permission), and used them as stuffing to fill out the shirt.

It's depressing making a body-double of yourself, when you realize how...large...your body is. :)

What happened to the dummy after the first two pictures?

I've thought of doing this, how difficult is it to make it match your shape when you stuff it?

har har har. :)

It actually works out pretty easily. You just keep stuffing in stuffing until the tape goes tight. You can tell places where the stuffing needs to go because the tape is "saggy". I yardstick is handy for stuffing into hard to reach places.
