I have ordered a set of Bohemonds Jorvik 2 toggle of the peg boots and I want to use 'em for SCA combat.

Now I already have 'em ordered with the vibram sole. Is there anything I should be aware of before stepping on the field. Any extra support I should wear? Anything I shouldn't do?

For reference I've been fighting for almost 10yrs and currently wear a pair of USAF combat boots.

I have a pair of the exact boots. I suggest putting them on with your gear as you would wear it to fight and note how they fit with the toggles fastened. You may need to adjust the toggle positions to get a better fit. That is the most common issue with them because everyone has different ankle circumference and arch height. An insole of thin sheepskin fleece might be good, too. I'm going to put that in mine this weekend and try it out. So far I love fighting in mine.

I'd put an insole in them -- but I think he recommends that anyway.

I've fought in various forms of his cav boots, first for rapier and then armoured for most of a decade.

I made the same move and have found that a good pair of running inserts helps greatly. I also use winingas with my fighting kit and make sure I have a tight wrap around my ankle for a little extra support. Only problem I have found is they slip pretty easily on wet, tall grass, even with the vibram soles. I use them for both melee and tourney fighting with the only exception being ravine battles.

His boots rock. They hold up well to combat. Add an insert for arch support as needed. Keep an eye on the toggle threads as some time they can come loose and need to be restitched.

I love my Bohemond boots and have been fighting in them for the last two years with no problems. They've kept me upright in both snow and wet grass and I have a bum wheel. They're comfortable, durable, and affordable.

They also look fantastic. Period footwear really dresses a kit up.

I fought in a pair of his boots for years and really liked them. I moved to a place that has practice on a hard tennis court and they got shredded. Of course they were also about 7 years old at the time too.
