I know I'm supposed to Ooo and Aaah over the armour, but all I can say is, "pretty horsie!"

Thanks :-) my new horse Zogo, a five year old Murgese stallion. I'm currently training him up for Baroc riding art (clasical dressage) and jousting with the help of the Fürstliche Hofreitschule Bückeburg, Germnay. I have shoulder-in, traverse, renverse and traversal going well now at walk and trot and once I have built up a bit more muscle on him I will work on those more at canter with the goal of having him being able to do a canter piroute within four months. Also working on spanish walk, and eventually will start training passage and piafe.

So great knowledgeable brain of 15th century afficianados, what books should I look for about 1450-ish HRE? Searching isn't working so great.

Thanks,

First time trying on the new harness. Greaves are coming after some tweaks. Riding in it today and playing with grappers and arret. New caparison and 15thC saddle on the way. I forgot to put my maille skirt on :P

Looks super sharp. The greaves will really make this harness perfect. Let us know how the riding in it is going.

Good luck!

Never be ashamed if you love your kit. I remember my first one was a Templar style abomination with a gorget and integral spaulders, bloody horrid. But I loved it and it was very cool place along the journey. Post up a pic mate.

This is my hard kit at a library reading program demo.

I had been armed by a group of 6-11 year olds.

The harness, minus the helm, was craftfed by the now retired/defunct Mercenary's Tailor, Allan Senefelder.
The helm is an AB helm that doesn't fit correctly.

Since I built this as a suit that suits the way I fight; I have some 15th century elements in it. The arm harness and couters, gauntlets (right hand is fingered, the left is three fingered) the legs, grieves, and gorget are all 15th-ish. It's the brigandine type body and the who knows what year helmet that get me confused. Salet skull with tail that has a close helm style closure that locks into place via spring pin; and a klap visor locked into place by two hooks.... WTF!!!!

Some tweaks need to be done to make it perfect, but I'm rather pleased with how it's evolved over the years. Next phase: grand bascinet with tilt and foot combat visor. I want spring to come fast, so I can go out and play with the other kids!

Hi Kaos,

The armour is beautiful but whoever did that photography work is skilled on a level beyond what I dream to be. Excellent work!!

Gruber,

I lOVE your kit. It just has the look. I can look past whatever oddities & inconsistencies because it's just so damn cool. Do you have any close-up pics of the harness? I'd love to see more detail of the arms, legs & helm.

I'm jealous of your Tewkesbury, Stefan.

That sounds mildly inappropriate ...

Jesus tap-dancing Christ of a cracker. This kind of stuff is why I love the 15th century: First you have a fine as hell harness, and then you slap on legitimate art on shields, just because there is space.
