Oh, ok. :D

And I'm with Gwen, I barely have any time to make pretty girl clothes anymore. Usually it's stuff for my three guys. I'm dying to just make something pretty out of a picture...

(Oh, and Chef? Edward also has full kit, he just doesn't sit still for the picture. ;))

"Fear" was too vague a word for me to use. I know of your awesome sewing skillz, so I should have said "fear of the time it would take". By itself, "fear" probably implied fear of doing it right, but I already am sure you could execute a fitted dress with ease.

Oh I dunno bout sewing skillz  .... But I can't deny the fear of not making it right... I am not sure I'll ever get over having that moment of excitement/fear when a fully assembled garment is tried on... you'd think I was the one hitting the 'launch' button on a shuttle launch :p

Excellent! Crazy hats, lots of fabric and bright, crazy color combinations are the things I love about 15th C clothing of the upper classes.

I don't think I have any photos of me in my soft kit. My soft kit needs work anyway...

@d-farrell- I forgot to say this before- you look fantastic! Great job with your kit. Both Jeff and I think you look great. Well done! :D

Also, you asked about the pollaxes we use at our events. I put a thread up separately, so as not to derail this one-

Double (triple?) thanks! :D

I do wish I had been able to make it out to the Tournament of the Phoenix... maybe next year. The pictures were awesome.

The photos are but a pale reflection of the awesomeness of the event itself. Try to make it next year- it's going to be the Order of the Crescent [defenders] against 5 challengers, in the spirit of St. Inglevert. It is going to rock the free world. 8)

Here is me about to go into battle, playing to the crowd at a crest melee and simply swanning about in front of a castle. I'm currently having more armour made so I can run about all cap a pied. Mostly in plate of course.

Its currently my dream to participate in a tournament such as the tournament of the phoenix. Persuading my girlfriend that its safe enough is going to be the hardest part, especially after I showed her this years video on youtube. So you hear that Jeff and Gwen? You can't stop the tournament of the phoenix until I've competed in it!

No worries Zachos, we have no intention of stopping the event, as a matter of fact, we're expanding. There will be even more opportunities, including periods other than 15th C. Watch WorldJoust.com for news. 8)

But back to the thugz, please! I'm really enjoying the show. :D

I don't care to be labeled a "thug" either.

The 14th century has co-opted the term "mafia," it the 16th century guys took "illuminati."

Surely we can come up with something classier than "thug."

Isn't 'mafia' 'thug' in Italian?

I'd suggest 'fashionista', but I don't think the boys would like that.

Or, if you want to keep in line with the 'secret society/criminal organizaton' format used... could be the 15th Century Garduna. They were a 15th century secret society of criminals afterall.

Haven't been doing much at all due to a bad arm injury that looks like it will actually finish my jousting. I have a 15thC solid lance/steel coronel joust in late April with some brave chaps, and then it looks like I will be done.

So, some pics from when I was fit for duty.

eh, fashionista / fashionisto works for me, but I dig the clothes as much as the armour... but it doesn't carry nearly as much cred as the 14th C Mafia and isn't as refined as the 16th C Illuminati :P

Sounds like the crowd I hang with...

Gwen, my hose aren't tight enough...

Gwen, I want a new hat, a really flashy one....

Gwen, can you make my next coat shorter?.....

Gwen, I need new arming points..can you make them red this time?...

The living definition of 'fashionista'....but I am looking for a male equivalent word.

I once had a bad dream where my hoes were too baggy. I woke up in bed and after realising it was a dream the first thing I thought was "I'm a really really sad person". Then I realised that I don't care as long as I can look good with it.

Really baggy hose looks like soggy diaper bottom, and well worthy of something an adult male should have nightmares about. What group are you with Zachos? I'm assuming Alan Lamb's lot.

I can match that: once had a anxiety-induced dream that my partially assembled gambeson was attacking me, angry flying spaghetti monster style. I had been working furiously to get it done in time for an event... it was also my first one (the green one in the pics).

well, if we roll with the faux-italian title, we can swap out the 'a' for an 'o'. But I get ya... more research is needed! ;)

But I have a feeling this is like finding a male equivalent word for 'seamstress' that doesn't sound like tubes under streets or like they should be driving a big truck :P

Did anyone else notice the ghost in Char's pictures? In the one of her you can clearly see one behind her head and then in the pic with the other women you can see two ghosts floating above their heads.

Here's a few of me in soft and hard kit. The 1st is at an old Red Company event at Bate's Nut farm (Jeffrey H is on the horse in the background).

Then there's me and a couple familiar guys with Lord Grey's.

Me as an archer. The doublet doesn't fit the personna, but I couldn't find my red doublet for the photographer so we went with the wealthy look.

I had thought of a twist on the story poem "Charge of the light brigade"& since the 15th C was probably the peak of white armour useage, making a play on words to the effect of charge of the white brigade, but that could be taken to have negative connotations.... :?

Yes, I rode with the tournament society last year. I've done some work with Griff as ground crew and am also a member of a living history company. I'm looking into getting some personal sportsmans insurance as well so I can do other stuff.

Edit for how about Paladins? Sodality? Lodge? Guild? Congregation? Fraternity? Fellowship?

15th century latin would be medieval Latin rather than classical, and it would be something on the order of, translated into English 1400and whatever years since the advent of our Lord.
