"So, the Strategikon of Emperor Maurice says that infantry should wear tunics of the gothic style and that calvary should wear tunics of the avar style. Anyone have any idea what in the world those look like ?"

Can anyone enlighten me on the differences in these tunic styles? Pictures would rock hard as well.

Gothic style- I think this is a reference to the style of tunic that most late period Romans wore. (A long sleeved 'T' tunic.) The long sleeve style was seen as Germanic.

Avar style is probably the 'A' tunic. It had more material in the skirt area making it a good tunic for cavalry.
