Fabric Guide: Asian Silk Brocades

Post by Ogedei »

I had a look through the fabric guide sticky but didn't really come across what I was looking for.

I am in search of an online source that sells silk brocade. Ideally I am looking for a repeating geometric pattern, this is the fabric concept: http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad/ex ... g_104.html

I have a website that does a silk/cotton brocade, which is ok, although I am uncertain about ordering from China directly (www.fabrichina.net)

Currently looking at this fabric: http://www.fabrichina.net/detail.php?ai ... 706&page=5

I would like to avoid silk/rayon if possible.

On sale it will prob be $15-30 a yard, I bet.

You could try: http://www.ancientmoods.com/home.php?cat=351&show_all=Y
http://www.goodorient.com/Silk_Brocade_C551_Page1
or http://www.fabricandart.com/HTML_files/Fabrics/fabric.html

I found them awhile back when I was doing some research for a Ming Dynasty SCA persona. I have never ordered from them though so I can't vouch for them.
