Longship Company Demonstration at American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia, Saturday, 1:00 p.m.; May 21st 2011

The Longship Company has once again been invited by the American Swedish Museum, in Philadelphia ( http://www.americanswedish.org/ ), to display our faering boat (the Gyrfalcon) and demonstrate our domestic and martial skills in a one-day encampment. Previous demonstrations in this semiannual event have included rec fighting in the infamous “bear pit”, a walled and fenced area ideally suited to battles with excellent separation between combatants and spectators. Pictures of previous events can be seen at: ( http://www.americanswedish.org/Vikings08.htm ).

If we have a good count on the participants, there will be lunch for all, so it’s imperative that you try to contact Marc Bladoe (who is ramrodding the event for the Longship Company) at mblaydoe@mac.com preferably no later than Wednesday, May 11th, to confirm your participation. Also, you may wish to arrive on-site around 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to assist with rigging the faering and setting up displays for the public.
Retired civil servant, part time blacksmith, and seasonal Viking ship captain.
