May the Constable Rest in Peace.

Today, for the 631st time, we mourn the passing of Bertrand du Guesclin, Constable and hero of France, and great warrior and knight, who died this day in 1380.

Light a candle in his memory and, should you be so fortunate as to be attending a fighter practice tonight, speak of him boldly so the memory of his valor and exploits are not forgotten; fight as a lion.

Even among his enemies he was held in high account, so much so that when he was captured he was literally worth a king's ransom.

Not to mention that he has a big hand in keeping the English forces bust then after 1368 in taking over much of English held France. The guy was good.

Lost many of his large scale battles but always was back again for more.

No doubt about that.

There are not many people who had a city surrender to them after they died.
