Period Helm question
Other than a kettles and basinets, what other helms would be appropriate for a early to mid 14th C northern European/Scandinavian rig. Wisby is the tail end of the period I am looking for, and Norwegian, German, Prussian, Polish.

Re: Period Helm question
Great helms from the early 14th century are among the most well-documented of the type, considering the existence of numerous surviving examples. But they'd likely only be worn by men-at-arms who intended to fight from horseback, so otherwise you might be stuck with early forms of bascinets, kettles or simple cervellies (essentially iron caps).

Re: Period Helm question
Do you have other portions of your early-fourteenth harness now, or is the headpiece the first bit?
Re: Period Helm question
Just deciding how I want to go, and the helm is the focal point. I would prefer a CoP (KÜSSNASH tutorial from Mad Matt) rather than a Globose or Corrizina. I have Mad Matt's tutorials on splinted legs, arms and greaves, and would prefer that route. I like the looks of soupcan knees and elbows.Konstantin the Red wrote:Do you have other portions of your early-fourteenth harness now, or is the headpiece the first bit?
If I remember correctly Onionpoint helms were more German, correct?
