It looks like they are having a lot of fun. I know a longship is a lot different than a kayak, but for a few years when I spent a good portion of my summers kayaking along the Maine coast I spent a lot of time paddling under the blistering hot sun, and a lot of time in what most would consider to be not so nice weather... I always preferred paddling when the sky was mostly overcast and would rather have a bit of rain than sun - at least until I was ready to make camp for the night.
