Also, an accountability thread.

I'm going to make the pouch from page 30 of Purses in Pieces..

All leather (as they indicate) and possibly, if I can figure out how to do it, a tooled dual purpose "box" for cell phone/wax tablets in the center.

Pics as they happen. :)

What tooling techniques are you considering?

The only thing that's right out from the git-go is basketweave stamping.

freehand cutting and pressing to create a relief. probably an eagle.

maybe do some glove stitching on the front to make a nice design, maybe not.

So, swivel knife to carve, and stamps? I don't think we're talking leather embossing here, which would be like metal repoussé if you worked it from the back -- after which you fill it in with some filler to guarantee the 3-D shape you made in the leather stays. Good way to use up skived scraps, pressing them in back there in a matrix of glue, followed by stitching on a backing. Kind of a deal, in leather.

You said embossing, I didn't. I said tooled.

Maybe I'll do it basketweave.. it's period.
