The Armour Archive

A member of our group is interested in putting together a display of armour maintenance,repair and cleaning. We were looking at the illustrations on Karen Lardatter's wonderful site of the armour polishers and thought that the polishing benches like the example in the link below would be a good centre-piece for the display.

Has anyone built one before? If so, would you care to share any pictures? I'm not sure how the piece in the middle that holds the armour should look and function.

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen it done. A fellow with "The Red Company" did one about... 15(?) years back. The hold-downs, I believe are just a couple of pegs. The planishing stick, a tapered wooden stick with rouged leather tacked to it. Fellow's name escapes me.... To me it looks like a variation of a wood working bench set a lot lower with the top at an angle.
Much like a shaving horse.
bench dogs would support the armour with wedges used to hold the armour in place.
