Shield Concept? Proper Heraldry?

I am designing a shield for a friend of mine, and he requested that I use blue, yellow, and a white trillium. Is it possible to use them in this combination? I know I can’t use metal on metal, or color on color. However someone told me I can use a metal on metal if its “properâ€Â

according to the SCA rules, that should be a legal device (though I'd like to see the embattled line drawn with fewer embattlements). The field is technically "neutral", being equally composed of colour and metal. this means the only tincure you CANT put on that field is OR or Azure (and then only on thier respective sides)

Stylistically, that's a valid combo. Your line of division should be drawn more boldly to fit the medieval eye (it's currently about 1/10th the width of your field - it should be like 1/6th or 1/5th the width of the field) to "read" better at range.

The best way to offset the white trillium from the field is to make sure your colors are nice and bold.

Looks nice.

Definitely bolder colors. And like the rest said, your field division should be less "zipper-like".

Keep in mind that a single trillium flower (on a red shield though) is the arms for the Kingdom of Ealdormere and is used fairly extensively by the population here in several varieties... Your friend may get a lot of curious glances from Ealdomerians at War if he goes.
