It is pretty but, I need help
This is a vambrace that I have been working on for about two years. I have had plenty of time lately to do so. However, because I set aside for so long and then forgot to note my source, I now cannot remember were I saw the oringinal art. I have moved twice since I started it and my original print has also gone missing. So if anyone happens to know who, & when on this woodcut based image, I would be joyful. I want to enter into an Arts & Sciences competetion and need the source. Please help!

I don't have a source for it. I have never seen that image before.
I will say NICE WORK! That is well done leather tooling. I really like the depth you have put into the folds of their outfits.
I hope you find the source so you can enter that and have it seen

If it's any help, they look like the style of figures from Russian fairy tales and historical legends that are painted on Russian lacquerware.
The stances, the armor, clothes, etc, as well as the floral border, all look like that lacquer work to me.
Do you have books of Russian folk tales or on Russian crafts? Look in there.

It's gorgeous, and the craftsmanship is incredible.
I hate to be the buzz-kill, but I have to ask....
What's the point?
When was this style of artwork ever done in tooled leather on armour in the medieval period? Where could you wear this that it wouldn't stick out as "wrong"?
I'm just curious.

PHHAAAAALEEEEEEEES!!!! post the documentation about leather tooled sheild facings!
Tooled leather documentation is hard to come by anyway, let alone dealing with armour. We would be VERY interested in seeing it.
And yes the Vam is totally gorgeous.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Here are the one I have. Scanned from a book, I got them many years ago from a friend who was traveling in Europe. The text is in German, I am by no means fluent, but I think I got the general idea...

Cool 16th century Italian parade shields.
But what's that got to do with leather armor or Medieval stuff? (Paging Russ Mitchell for the "They didn't use leather for armor" argument!)
Medieval leather tooling is fairly commonplace on many surviving objects like coffers, leather containers, scabbards, etc.
You do nice work. If someone sent you leather and a pattern, would you be interested in tooling it?
