15th Century sword Belts....again

I have been looking at belt fittings and mounts online, and I have come across things called hangers...sometimes purse hangers... other times I have come across things that look like hooks. I was wondering. If one were to construct a sword belt, could one...in theory... attach one of said hooks to the end of one of the scabbard hanging/guide straps to be hooked on one of the hangers?

I'll jump in since I made those.
You could indeed to that. It would be perfecty suited to the task and quite easy to set up. There are also more historically accurate (i.e. complicated) ways of doing the hanging of a sword as well. I think it is a great idea --whether on not you use my pieces to do it. (of course that would be nice!
)

i wish that i could use yours! and Tim Finkas's as well... My problem is that I am trying to do all the hardwear in white pewter, and everybody casts these out of Brass!!

In another thread I started, about sword belts... someone posted a picture of a belt that had been made with 3 hanging straps wrapped around the scabbard. Is 3 the generally used number, or could there only have been 2?

You don't want to hang a sword from a pewter casting, the metal isn't strong enough to hold it. At least I've never seen a pewter casting up to the task.

leaf gilding will be a pain and likely to rub off very soon after application.
Gilded metals were done either amalgam gilding, ie mercury and gold/silver, rubbed on and then heat used to drive off the mercury.
Or leaf floated onto mercury, heat then used as above. Given the toxicity of mercury vapours that is probably not an option, also it would cost more than the piece.
You could use mordant gilding but it would not last long on this.
Talk to a jeweller about getting them electro plated, safer for you and likely to work. Bear in mind silver tarnishes, so it will have to be a heavy plating. Or you could ask Talbot if he could do some silver ones?
