Dream tents

Post by zippy »

One of the most expensive pieces of your kit is the tent.
I was wondering if anyone had photos of their dream tents
and if there was anyone that made them
have fun

I'll buy my dream tent. I just need the lackys to haul, store, erect, and disassemble it for me.

my dream tent, top row with the towers in the corners (nothing says camping in style like a tent with closets), either this summer or next year I'll build it.

Beyond that I'm kinda a pavilion whore, http://members.armourarchive.org/kniteb ... %20028.jpg The black and yellow is a buddies as well as one of the wedges. The two wedges are the only pavilions we didn't make ourselves. Since the photo I've added a 24ft sqr dinning fly, a 8ft round shower pavilion, a 10ft round conical, a 5ft round for a reliquary, and my buddy with the black and yellow has added a second 8ft shower tent. Ya I'm sick

Wow, tentominiums.

A couple in Atlantia has made a round pavilion with dormers on the roof. Really spectacular. She's a seamstress and he's a carpenter, so their talents complement each other.

I'd love to see pictures of that ( inside and outside the pavilion )

I regret that we didn't take any pictures. But it's a showpiece inside and out. They have a tester bed that he built, along with a table, chairs, and a chest. And a real door. The pavilion itself is not extremely large, so it serves them mainly as a bed-chamber. They also have a relatively simple day canopy which is where they cook, eat, and socialize.

They have a trailer in which the whole rig can be packed. He has made storage and travel containers for the spars out of large-diameter pvc pipe.

I have 107 yards of sunforger canvas coming on Tuesday.

I'm planning on something similar to this:

with a few modifications.

107 yards dang thats just a little fabric, I could make 3-4 pavilions with that much.

It is 36 inch wide. according to this calculator:

http://www.greydragon.org/pavilions/pavmath.html

My 20 foot pavilion is going to take just over 100 of it, not counting eaves and ground flaps. I won't have enough to do them, so I'm going with a different fabric for those.

BTW, If anybody is looking for a great deal on fabric, contact Dan Love at Itex, inc- 1-800-525-7058 or e-mail him at Dlove@banwear.com

They usually are a wholesaler, but they often have end rolls that they will sell at a large discount. He likes SCadians, too. Super great guy.

He sold me a 45 and a 62 yard roll of the natural colored, waterproof, mildew resistant sunforger canvas 36" wide for $1.85 a yard. That is less than 1/2 the price I found anywhere else. UPS shipping to wisconsin was $42.

In all, the canvas cost me $238. I figure I will have less than $300 in the entire pavilion when I'm done. (I have a pile of rough cut cheery that has been waiting for a project)

I've got a Panther wall tent that was modified a little, and i love it.

The side walls are tied down but not stitched down, so they can roll up. It's possible to turn it into a shade fly with low corners during the day for ventilation, and drop the sides and doors at night.

Most excellent, especially if you have a camp that doesn't let random people wander in and out and steal your stuff.
