Has anyone made a falx for SCA combat?

I've been trying to find a 2handed weapon that works with my Roman heavy persona. The falx was a 4 foot longish curved weapon the Dacians used when fighting the Romans (They also had a smaller 1 handed variety). The curved blade allowed them to attack over the shields and cleave helms/stab into faces and hack off legs. The Romans were so afraid of the weapon the story goes that the legions fighting them added reinforcements to their helmets and started wearing greaves.

I could work my persona around finding one of these and using it when not in a battle line and like the idea of it.

So, anyone done this before? or have pics :)?

edit: Okay apparently the Romans fighting the Dacians wore lorica armor on their arm along with the greaves and helm reinforcements. This gives me a nice idea on how to do arm armor now too. Thanks history :).

The one handed varity is easy enuff to do with a rattan cane some of the Hapkido canes may work if the diamiter is large enuff.
The larger two handed type would require steam bending the rattan in a simple jig. It takes a bit of time to steam before bending if you leave the bark on the rattan.

Another option would be to salvage some rattan furnature.

I think that this may be a great usage for old papa-san chairs.

If I recall correctly, about twenty years ago, in Grey Niche, a fighter made a "knife" out of a piece of pappa san chair that was a lot like this. We called it a "Scythian steakknife". I will see him this weekend, and suggest he look at this thread.

I found some rattan to work with and also found this SCA guide to bending rattan online. Thought someone else might find it useful. Pics of a scimitar are in it too. http://www.atomicvole.org/A-M/armor.html
